Item: Award winning poster

November 3rd 2017
Marije Blok, involved in the MI-Tale project on behalf of the National Foundation for the Elderly, won the Janneke Witsenburg Poster prize. This prize was awarded at the Dutch Gerontology Congres.

With the award-winning poster, Marije presented the first results of the user-requirements study. For this first step in the MI-Tale project she visited five care-farms in the Southern part of the Netherlands to interview 11 elderly people with dementia. She also interviewed their informal caregivers, grandchildren and professionals, amongst others about the role of technology in their lives and how this would help them in recalling and sharing life-stories and memories.

She explored, for instance, how elderly people hold to technology if it helps them to still execute their most important hobbies; if it helps them to get and keep in touch with important persons or to keep a feeling of self-control by using this technology.
